Headline: Green Bay Packers vs San Francisco 49ers NFC Wildcard Game Preview
The Green Bay Packers face a big test in the wildcard
matchup against the 12-4
San Francisco 49ers.
The
49ers are the first team with a 12-4
record, to play a wildcard game on the road. The
49ers are a VERY GOOD TEAM, with a super-star
reciever. Terrell Owens is the Big Time GameBreaker the Packers would love to have at
wideout. Ron Wolf has said his only regret was not getting
Brett Favre more weapons.
Owens also has a quarterback who can get him the ball. Jeff Garcia is a touch, strong armed
quarterback who is going to the Pro Bowl a second straight season. The Packers will definately
have their work cut out for them. Here are what I se as the keys to the game:
The Packers will have to shutdown the run. Garrison Hearst has had some major injuries
over the course of his lengthy NFL career, but still managed to churn out over 1200 yards. If
the
49ers establish the run early, the Packers will be in for a long day.
The Packers need to get the Offense out of the gate quickly. Getting 14 points on the board
quickly as they did agianst the
Giants, allowed the Offense to open up a little more.
It also made the Offense stay commited to the run game to chew up the clock. That gives
Ahman Green more of a chace to hit the Home Run.
The Packers need to make sure tackles to keep Terrell Owens from making the big play.
The Packers Defensive backs are probably the strongest link in the Defense. Owens is going
to get at least 8 catches, and as long as our BACKS MAKE SURE TACKLES, they will minimize the
damage.
The Packers need to get the ball in
Ahman Green's hands, at the very least, 30 times.
Preferably 25 rushes and fiver or so catches. Running
Green will chew up time and keep the
49ers Offense off the field.
The Packers need a couple catches and/or big plays from either Corey Bradford or Donald
Driver.
Bill Schroeder and
Antonio Freeman have had good, steady seasons, but Bradford and
Driver are more likely to hit a Big One.
You saw what SPECIAL TEAMS did last week. Every week you see a couple teams win with the
play of their SPECIAL TEAMS. Dorsey Levens really gave a spark to the team last week, and the
Offense flourished with a short field to work with.
Yes the Packers do have their work cut out for them, but if they follow my plan of attack, the
should prevail. BigE has the Packers winning by a score of 24-13.
