The temperatures were needless to say, cold. Plus the winds were blowing fairly strong, but the Packers made fewer mistakes, and prevailed in a close game, and forced the Bills into six turnovers. In the end, the Packers held one of the NFL's most potent offenses to a total of 185 yards and ZERO points, and posted a 10-0 victory.
The two teams battled the weather conditions all day and traded turnovers. The only scoring in the entire first half was a Ryan Longwell 33 yard feld goal which gave the Packers 3-0 advantage.
Buffalo opened the second half on an impressive drive of 14 plays which ate up the first 9:45 of the quarter. But, Mike Hollis missed a 33 yard field goal which could have tied the score, and the Packers held on to the slim 3-0 lead.
In the fourth quarter, Buffalo looked as if they would go in for a lead score, but Vonnie Holliday recorded his fourth and fifth sacks of the game on Drew Bledsoe,the second one which caused a fumble, and the Packers recovered at the 39. Ahmann Green, then over came the conditions and picked up the longest run of the day of 27 yards, which got the Packers down to the 11. Three plays later, Favre passed to Donald Driver for the touch down and a 10-0 lead. Buffalo took over for one last chance, but with no time -outs remaining and starting at the 17, there was nothing they could do except watch time run out.
With the victory, the Packers close out the home portion of the season at a perfect 8-0! The ONLY team in the NFL with a perfect home record. Overall, Green Bay is now 12-3 and still in the race for home-field advantage for the entire playoffs.
