Former Green Bay Packer Reggie White died early Sunday morning after suffering major heart decongestion. He recently turned 43.
Known and loved by Packer and football fans as "the minister of defense", Reggie White was one of the greatest defensive linemen in football history. He is the Packers all-time sack leader with 68.5, and he was at one time the NFL's career record sack holder with 192.5, until Bruce Smith broke the mark in 2003.
After having played eight years in Philadelphia, White shocked the football world, when he decided to join the Packers via free-agency in 1993. He immeadiatly solidifed the defense and played a vital role in the Packers victory over New England in SuperBowl XXXI, as he recorded three sacks on Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe.
Plans are being finalized by Packer officials to honor Reggie White, by retiring his #92 jersey and enshrining him on the ring of fame along with the names of other great Packer players inside Lambeau Field.
