The Green Bay Packers added depth at running back by signing former
Baltimore Raven running back Jason Brookins. The 26-year-old Brookins is
6 feet 2 inches and weighs 250 pounds, which will allow the Packers to
use him at fullback if fourth round draft choice Najeh Davenport isn't
ready for training camp.
Brookins played in 12 games, starting in 3 for the former Super Bowl
Champion Ravens. He finished the season with 551 yards on 151 carries, a
3.7-yard average, and 5 touchdowns. Brookins also caught six passes for
45 yards.
The Ravens waived Brookins on May 20th after he showed up for mini-camp
overweight and out of shape. Still, Mike Hatley said Brookins ran the
40-yard dash in 4.62 seconds at 250 pounds during his workout in Green
Bay. Hatley thinks Brookins has a big upside, only time will tell.
