In an effort to get under the salary cap limit, the Green Bay Packers have released several key veterans. Given their unconditional releases were Middle Linebacker BERNARDO HARRIS; Defensive End JOHN THIERRY; and Defensive Tackle SANTANA DOTSON.
Thierry joined the Packers from the Browns as an unrestricted free agent before the 2000 season. He started the past two seasons.
Harris had started at middle linebacker each year since 1997. In 2001 he led the team in tackles for the fourth time in the past five years. He also collected several sacks and pass intereptions.
Santana Dotson...... reclaimed his job at defensive tackle following rehab of a torn quadriceps that ended his season in 2000. He played in all 16 games as a pro from 1992-98, starting the last 13 contests and recorded 3.5 sacks, also forcing one fumble and one pass defended. A TEN YEAR veteran, Dotson joined the Packers as a free agent from Tampa Bay prior to the 1996 season.
