For the first time in a long time, Mike Holmgren left Lambeau Field as a head coach with a loss. The last time the former Packer coach brought his Seahawks to Green Bay, he left with an impressive victory. This time however, Brett Favre played much better and the Packers committed ZERO turn overs to aid them to a 35-13 victory.
The Packers put the first points of the day on the board, after they recoverd a Seattle fumble at the 49. On first down, Favre tossed to Green for a gain of 7. Four plays later on second and five at the 34, Favre passed to Driver for the touch down.Longwell added the p.a.t. for a 7-0 lead. The Seahawks would drive right back to tie the game on the very next drive which started at the 29. Hasselbeck passed to Jackson for a gain of 13. After picking up a few key first downs to keep the drive alive, Maurice Morris gained 19 yards, giving Seattle a first and goal at the 10. Alexander then carried for gains of 9 and then 1 yard for the score to tie t at 7-7.
The Packer offense led by Favre,then controlled the ball for the remainder of the first quarter and a portion of the early second quarter. At the end of the first quarter, Favre passed to Freeman for a gain of 14 on third and 4 at the 50. A few plays later, early in the second, Favre connected with Driver for a gain of 7 down to the 1 on third and seven from the eight. On the next play, Green scored the touch down. Longwell added the p.a.t. to regain the lead at 14-7. Seattle would narrow the gap on the next drive, as Hasselbeck again connected on several key third down plays. on third and 9 at the 38, Hasselbeck connnected with Robinson for 10 yards. A few plays later, on third and 1 at the 19, Hasselbeck passed to Mili for 8 yards down to the 11. After failing to connect again on a third and 9 from the 10, Seattle settled for a 27 yard field goal from Josh Brown aking it 14-10. Favre and the offense came back out, and put seven more points on the board. First, Favre passed to Bubba Franks for 20 yards. Green then carried for gains of 9 and 11 yards. On a first down at the 12, Walker carried for 8 yards down to the 4. On third and 1 at the 3, Green blasted through the line for the score, extending the lead to 21-10, wth just 36 seconds remaining in the first half. Seattle drove back fast again, and looked to score a touch down, but the drive stalled when Hasselbeck was SACKED for a seven yard loss with 3 seconds left. Brown came in and booted a 58 yard field goal to narrow the gap to 21-13 at the half.
In the third, Green Bay would re-gain control as they would score another touch down for the FOURTH consecutive drive. 8 plays=53 yards, the score occurred as Favre passed to Tony Fisher for an 11 yard touch down. Longwell added the p.a.t. making it 28-13. The Seahawks would see any chance of a victory go away on their next drive. On a third and 3 at the 35, Hasselbeck had his pass INTERCEPTED by Darren Sharper,who returned it 19 yards to the 44. Favre and the offense would score again! for the FIFTH straight offensive series!!! After Seattle was called for a pass interferance penalty, Green Bay had a first and goal at the 6. Green gained four. Then on second and goal at the 2, Favre dished a shovel pass to Hendersen for the touch down. Following Longwell's extra point it was 35-13.
There was no scoring by either team in the fourth quarter,which allowed the FINAL SCORE to be:
