Headline: Patriots Hit a Nerve as Packers Lose 35-0 at Lambeau
Game MVP: Cart Driver w/Drove Brett Favre Off
Offensive Player of the Game: Offense was Offensive
Defensive Player of the Game: Colin Cole DT
Not only did the
Pats have the nerve to come to Green Bay and give the Packers a first class ass kicking
at Lambeau Field 35-0 but they also knocked Brett Favre out of the game by temporarily traumatizing nerves
in his elbow just before half time. Some unnerving things from the game included the
Patriots possessing
the ball for essentially 40 minutes of a 60 minute game, the continued barrage of pass plays over 20 yards,
and an offense that only generated 120 yards total for the game.
Players of the Game Recap;
GAME MVP: The cart driver who drove
Brett Favre off the field just before halftime. The way this dude drove the injury cart you would have
thought #4 was shot a few times instead of just having an elbow problem. He also almost took out a few
Patriots as he flew up the tunnel. The way the game was going he must have figured it was the only way
to slow the
Pats down. So not only did he get
Favre off the field quickly he almost took out a few
Patriots in the process. Here's someone in the organization who did all they could Sunday.
OFFENSIVE MVP:-- The Offense was offensive. So they are the "offensive" mvp's this week. DEFENSIVE MVP:
Colin Cole DT-- stayed active against the
Patriots helping keep the Dillion/Maroney combo under 4 yards a carry average. He came up with 7
tackles and a sack for the game. SUSAN B ANTHONY GOLD COIN PLAYER OF THE GAME:--
MARQUAUND MANUEL-- M & M , a previous wearer of the dress, didn't want to talk to the press after the game.
After being twisted around during the game he must have tore his game dress and was probably unable find his
formal to wear to the press conference.
GOLD BAR RATINGS (1-5 BARS)
QB:1 GOLD BAR-- In this dismal performance
Brett Favre couldn't throw the ball into the ocean. Before being knocked out late in the second quarter
Favre was 5-15 for 73 yards. He looked like a quarterback who started 251 straight games on this day. Enter
Aaron Rodgers after the half. He went 4-12 for 32 yards and broke his foot. He's done for the year. Here's
a news flash. Looks as if
Favre is ok and will play Monday night against the
Seahawks. Who's surprised he's going to play in number 252?
RB: 1 GOLD BAR-- 13 carries for 28 yards is abysmal. Picking up 28 yards is not all the o-lines fault.
Sometimes backs have to make people miss and
Ahman Green was unable to do that against one of the better front sevens in football. For as fresh as
William Henderson was last week he looked equally tired this game. Just pushing people around in the
run game and not knocking someone on there derriere.
WR/TE:--2 GOLD BARS-- Hard to down grade a group when a ball was seldom on target.
Driver saw an array of defensive looks thrown at him. The
Patriots knew
Driver was the Packs life line. Taking away the short slant and
Favres favorite target put the offense out of sync. After taking a hard shot early
Greg Jennings had only one catch for 26 yards all day. David Martin got hurt again. Something with his
ribs. Maybe he should be some where eating ribs and watching football rather then playing.
Bubba Franks cried after the game about his reduced role. Hey
Bubba, If you picked up more then 2 yards after the catch, when you actually caught the ball, then you
could whine about playing time.
OFFENSIVE LINE:1 GOLD BAR-- In the run game the young line was unable to generate any push up front against
New England. Collegde looked as if he was spinning his wheels in the running game. At the snap he would
meet his defensive counterpart and could not move him. The same goes for the pass protection. Even though
Favre early on had some time he could not connect compounding the problem. Once
Rodgers was in the
Pats knew the Pack had to pass to get back in the game. It was all over as
Rodgers couldn't pull the trigger when needed. Either running for his life or taking the sack. A few of
Scott Wells shot gun snaps had to be snagged by the QB's. One was so high and hard, if
Favre didn't jump a little to catch it, the ball would have sailed for 20 plus yards.
Chad Clifton played just like the other rookies which says all you need to know about his game Sunday.
DEFENSIVE LINE:1 GOLD BAR -- Once again there was no pressure put on the QB consistently by the line during
the game. A good portion of the lines sacks come in spurts. Opposing Quarter backs are way to comfortable
in the pocket. Did
Tom Brady look as if he was worried about a defensive line that let him roam in the pocket for more
then 4 seconds on 3 different occasions? Until the line can put pressure on the QB in less then 3.25 seconds
teams will slice and dice the middle of the field on the Pack. Colin Cole had seven tackles and a sack. Not
quitting on plays even when the Packers were down late.
LINEBACKERS: 1 GOLD BAR--The pats went at Brady Poppinga with great success in the pass game early as
Patriots TE Ben Watson fried him for a 36 yard gain. He was not the only one who had problems in
coverage at Lambeau field Sunday.
Nick Barnett gave up a touchdown to in pass coverage to TE Daniel Graham as well as being juked so bad
by Lawrence Mahroney, he almost fell over backwards, as Maroney took the ball in for a 4th quarter score.
AJ Hawk led the team with 12 tackles and a fumble recovery.
New England did a great job of picking up Hawk as well as the other Packers LB's when they did
attempt to blitz.
DEFENSIVE BACKS:1 GOLD BAR--The corners Woodson and Harris had decent games. The
Patriots knew the corners play a majority of man coverage and used there receivers to pull them away from
the middle of the field. Thus leaving the safeties and linebackers alone to cover the middle of the field. When
Tom Brady could he went after Manuel. Weather it was a TE,RB, or WR it didn't matter because Manuel
wasn't able to cover any of them. Even when he did play tight coverage
Tom Brady threaded the needle for six to TE Ben Watson in the 3rd quarter.
Nick Collins had his best game of the year. He was not responsible for any of the blown coverage's as he
has been in past weeks and showed no hesitation in taking on and rocking the hard charging Maroney.
SPECIAL TEAMS:2 GOLD BARS--This would be one bar but when your punter legs out 459 yards worth of punts in
10 attempts he's doing his job. Coverage was decent on returns. The Packers kick return game was nothing to
write home about as Vernand Morency came back after a three game absence to pick up 22 yards on his lone return.
Dave Rayner missed his 44 yard attempt wide right preserving the second shutout of the season for the Packers.
