We can all breath a sigh of relief! The tarin wreck has stopped for now, as the Packers ended a four game losing streak in major fashion with an explosive 38-10 victory over the Lions in Detroit on Sunday.
The Packer defense came primed to play. On the first series of the game, the defense recorded a sack and a three and out series. Following the punt, Favre and offense started their first drive at the 25.Favre started out hot, as he was 6 of 6 in passing. Chatman for 5; Driver for 12; Davenport for 9; Chatman for 9; Fisher for 17.That pass set up a first and goal at the 7. On first down, Favre found Driver alone in the back of the endzone and passed to him for the touchdown. Longwell added the p.a.t. and the Packers had a 7-0 lead.
Unfortunatly...... that lead would not last too long, the Lions stormed back on the next drive to tie the game at 7-7, going 67 yards in just 6 plays, with Harrington passing a 28 yard strike to Az-Hakim.
The Packers would re-gain the lead in the second quarter. Favre would spark the drive by passing to Javon Walker for a huge gain of 50 yards down to the 17. Two plays later on third and five, Favre threw to Fisher for a 13 yard touchdown. Longwell added the p.a.t. for a 14-7 lead. The next few series saw the two teams trade field positions with punts. The Lions would narrow the gap to 14-10 as Hanson connected on a 48 yard field goal. The Packers would extend the lead right before the half ended. Favre connected on several passes for muti-yardage. Driver caught passes for 23 and 14 yards.Longwell came in and kicked a 50 yard field goal as time expired, to give the Packers a 17-10 lead at the half.
The Packer defense would put up the next points early in the third quarter. After Green Bay failed to move the ball on the opening drive, Detroit took over at the 24. On third and 8, Harrington's pass was INTERCEPTED by Darren Sharper who returned it 35 yards for the touch down to give the Packers a 24-10 lead.
The Lions gained a little momentum on the next drive, as Eddie Drummond returned the kick 58 yards. Facing a fourth and seven at the 37, the Lions elected to go for the first down to keep pace, but Harrington threw an incomplete pass. The Packers took over on downs at the 37. On first down, Favre passed to Chatman for a gain of 12. Similar to the drive in the first quarter, Favre connected on multiple throws going 4 for 5. The fifth pass was good for a 13 yard touch down to Najeh Davenport which gave Green Bay a commanding 31-10 lead late in the third quarter.
The Packers pulled a little razze-dazzle for their final score. On a third and nine, Favre tossed to Ahmann Green on a reverse, Green then threw a perfect pass down field into the waiting arms of Donald Driver for the touch down. Longwell added the p.a.t. to make the FINAL SCORE
